DREAMS COME TRUE: The rossoneri once again gain their confidence ahead of 2007 after beating Udinese 0-3 at Stadium Friuli
on match day 18. They are now at the 12th place in the league with 20 points, 28 points behind the leader, Inter Milan.
Milan coach, Carlo Ancelotti admitted he would be glad to see the back of 2006 as they look ahead to the final game of
the year against Udinese. Even without some key players such as Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Nesta, the team managed to hold
down theri opponent and scored 3 times, thanks to Gilardino, Kaka and R.Oliveira. Milan's next oppponent in the new year is
Reggina on 14 January at San Siro.
TOTALLY IN SYNCH : Alberto Gilardino and Ricky Kaką are not only the boys of '82 but they are becoming the goalscoring
pair for Milan. The 24-year-olds scored twice against Catania in midweek and followed that up with another double at Udinese.
Kaką got things going on Saturday when he dusted himself down after being fouled in the area to dispatch the penalty with
ease and Gila double the tally when the striker reacted quickly to a loose ball following Marek Jankulovski's cross to flick
home a volley with the outside of his right boot.
There is a new feeling in the Rossoneri attack, with Kaką also setting them up and Gila finishing, to take his total to
six in the league. However, the Brazilian is hot on his heels with five goals of his own, but it is their understanding in
and around the penalty area that really catches the eye. Any doubts that the performance against Catania was an isolated upturn
in a less-than-satisfactory campaign were swept away at Udinese.
Gila's turning point was missing that penalty against Torino and now the number 11 has hit his stride while Kaką has been
playing through the pain barrier of a foot problem, but in their own way both have helped each along to greater heights -
and we still have 2007 to look forward to.
